5 Awesome Tennis Resolutions for the New Year

Here Are 5 Awesome Tennis Resolutions for the New Year

The new year is right around the corner and your favorite little tennis player is probably gearing up to make some big resolutions. While the common resolutions of eating better and working out are always a good idea, we thought we’d give you a few tennis-specific ideas to help your player start off the new year on the right foot.

1. Get more sleep:

This one is especially important for young tennis players! Juggling tennis practice, school, and homework can be tough, but getting enough rest is crucial for optimal tennis performance. If your child wants to play tennis encourage them to get as much sleep as possible. This will keep them energized before games and help them become a better team player.

2. Stop overthrowing:

This is a common mistake among tennis players of all levels. If you watch the latest videos from champion players of the modern game then you’ll see what we mean. When you try to hit tennis balls just over the net, it’s easy to lose your balance and overthrow the shot. To alleviate this, maintain proper form to help you hit tennis balls within the tennis court more often.

3. Work on your backhand:

A strong backhand is key to winning tennis club matches. If your child hasn’t been working on this shot, now is the time to start! Feel free to show them notable players like Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic so that they can learn the game.

4. Play with better players:

Competition is a great way to improve as a tennis player. Playing against better tennis players will help your child develop their style and appreciation for the game.

5. Work on your tennis fitness:

Whether it’s mastering the perfect tennis serve or getting a killer tennis workout, tennis players need to stay physically fit. Make sure your tennis player is doing everything she can to get in shape and maintain a high level of tennis conditioning. Being an active player can do a lot for your child’s health so don’t be shy to get them fit for the game.

We hope these resolutions help your player have a successful year of tennis!
Happy New Year!
